A Fun and Successful Introduction to Python for Kids & Addults 10 and Up. Uses the 2.7 Fork of Python Rather than 3.0+

A fun introduction with serious results for kids and adults about 10 and up. This book presents a fun but serious (in terms of knowledge gained and results) 4 week course for kids with knowledge of basic arithmetic and good reading skills in the Python language and an introduction to serious programming. One item that may be a drawback for some readers is that this book uses the 2.* fork of Python rather than the more recent 3.*
release. The author gives good reasons for the choice of 2.* Python including the availability of additional and legacy libraries and the fact that Python 2 is installed by default on Mac's, but several introductions for kids use the Python 3.* fork. The examples are realistic and not only games extending to an introduction to Python's Object Oriented Syntax and the conventional Self variable. An excellent choice for a mature child or timid adult unless you are already committed to the 3.* fork of Python

This is a great resource for anyone aged 10 or older to start learning the basics of Python. My child has expressed interest in this subject, so I thought this was a basic, fairly inexpensive way to test her interest. The book is well laid out, and realistic in its objectives. The examples are explained in a manner that it easily understood without being patronizing. I really enjoyed this book and I'd recommend it for kids and adults who want a concise book that gives you a basic understanding of Python without being overwhelming or pretentious.
